This weekend I began work on a media center for a client with an odd space to fill. This is going to fit between a wall and a fireplace, but the wall has a plumbing chase that has to be allowed for.

Here is the opening I need to fill - right below the 80" screen.

It is all cherry and cherry ply and will match a sofa table and end table I have already made for them.

The top is already glued up and I was able to complete the cut and fit for the primary framework.

I'm horrible at posting updates, but I will try.

Plodding along. I cut and test fit all the 1/4" panels for the sides. All the sides will be hidden so I simply plowed groves into the legs for the panels instead of fitting a full frame between the legs. Tomorrow I'll lightly sand the panels and get a coat of oil on the. Then I can assemble the sections and sand the faces of the frames where needed.

Because the panels will all be up against walls I'm toying with turning the back panels good side in as they will be seen from the front. The large rear panel will be seen behind the glass doors and the panel will also be seen at the back of the open shelves on the right.

That thing looks great Rennie. Those side panels are amazing. This phase of the project becomes hard for me. Pretty much everything is done but the chemical reactions take as long as they take. This is when I raid the scrap barrel and build keepsake boxes and picture frames. I don't sit by and twiddle my thumbs very well. If I don't find something to do in the shop LOML will break out the honey-do list!!! :D :D :D
