Here are the main components of the hardware from the front screen/storm door we are restoring. It polished up quite well, solid brass.
Is this a candidate for an interior/exterior spray laquer, available locally in an aerosol can, to help prolong the finish?

Can't say that I know for certain but whenever I cleaned and polished the brass fittings on my boat I sprayed them with lacquer.
