Model Ship Display Case

I’m more of a carpenter than a woodworker, but one of my home repair customers asked me to make a couple display cases for the model ships he builds. Here are some snapshots of the final result. Cases are 16x32x36. Apparently he was satisfied as he ordered two more when I have time.

How did you put the glass in? I'm not seeing an obvious trim piece so it looks nice and crisp..

They look great, Wayne. That'll keep the kids from messing with the ships, huh? Keeps the dust off, too. I'd imagine dusting off a model ship is not an easy task.

Ryan, The glass (acrylic) is set in a rabbet and held in place with a pin nailed molding. I used some scraps for an example.

Very well done and my hat is off to the ship builder... I love model ships, and bought a kit to build a rather easy one. It was a very small ship. The little ship they put Capt Bligh on when they mutinied. Still have it half way built... found I don't have as much patients as I thought...
