Murphy bed.

My queen-size Murphy bed project is coming along nicely.

The basic frame was finished, but it had to be attached to the 3/4" panels on the bottom of it. These panels make up the finished side you see when the bed is stowed. When it's all assembled, it's very heavy.

Before attaching the panels to the frame, it has to be squared up and checked for fit. When everything is in order, trace the frame onto the back of the panels, then remove the frame. Then apply wood glue, place the frame back onto the panels, clamp it, and install the screws.

Moving the frame around, lifting it to apply glue, and placing it back onto the panels is awkward and requires two people. I decided to find a way to complete the task on my own, because even with help, it would be difficult. I designed a sling to attach the frame to my winch so I can lift it myself. It works beautifully, and the frame assembly is complete. I just need to install the hardware on the vertical frame that mounts to the wall, then disassemble everything, stain it, and apply a clear spar urethane. I',m getting excited to see it finished and installed!
