A couple weeks ago the coil spring on my drill press quill broke. Got online and found the replacement on Ereplacementparts and they also had a good video on how to replace the coil spring.
Got the part and was really struggling trying to get the right amount of tension on the spring. My old arthritic hands made it really difficult to twist the housing, and hold it in place where I wanted it set. Got this idea. I went to my PVC supply and got a 2" thread/slip connnector. It just fit nicely over the spring housing. I cut a slot in it for the end of the coil spring to fit in and wow, it worked great. Gave me something I could hang on to and was hollow so I could get a socket in place to tighten the nut when everything was in place..
