I picked up a new to me set of Marples hand carving chisels this past week, it was missing two chisels from the set, but another had a handle broken.

The broken handle was snapped off completely at the top of the ferrule. I used a couple of small drill bits to clear out the broken wood from between the shank and ferrule. I was able to get the ferrule cleaned up to reuse. I chucked up some walnut to turn a new handle.

I’ll finish it up tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing how you do the lettering ;)
I was probably going to just do a blo finish. If I were to lacquer it, I could probably laser it, then flood fill with gold paint, or I could laser a rubber stamp, I do have material around to try that.

The missus bought me a set of those many, many years ago. They have been great.
They seem to be a good set. Looking forward to using them

There's some sharpening challenges with a few of those edges.

Not as bad as it might seem once you practice a bit. Mary May put out a series on sharpening carving tools a few years back that I found super helpful
