That's how I have done it in the past but not sure why I didn't remember to do it that way this time. I've now gotten my crock cleaned up (what a pain) and will put glue in a jar and water in the crock as you mentioned in the future.I might suggest using a jam jar for the glue and putting that in water in your crock though, much easier to clean up.
