New family member

Odd he didn't like the water (spray) after all the water-based therapy he's gotten.
It was the spray from the nozzle. Having a tank fill up below him doesn’t seem to bother him very much. He did snarl and snap at the physical therapy people when they tried to rinse him off after his walk in the tank. So we knew what to expect.

Well, lighting strikes twice.

Last Friday I found a tiny kitten hiding behind our trash cans. As soon as I saw him he ran away. Saw him again on Saturday, he was hiding in deep leaves across the street. Again, eluded anyone reaching towards him. Early Sunday morning Fletcher was going ape at the back patio door. Seems the kitten found the water dish we leave out back for Fletcher and was quenching his thirst. As soon as I turned on the light he went around the side of the house. I found him huddled in a little alcove in the foundation. This is about 3 in the morning. He seemed safely concealed so I left him till morning. At daybreak I went out and he allowed me to pick him up. He weighs only a few ounces, is emaciated, and can't be more than 5 weeks old. How he got separated from mom is anyone's guess. Perhaps he was abandoned by someone. I brought him in and we've been feeding him kitten milk and some solid food. Hungry little bugger.

Fletcher is intensely curious about the new addition but shows no signs of aggression. Likewise the kitten (now named Winston) Purrs constantly when Fletcher is near. We hope this to be a good sign. Vet appointment for a check up is scheduled for Wednesday. He's been passing a little blood in his stool, that concerns us.

Looks like a ball of good luck! :)

At that age, if he's got any fleas, and you can't use the flea products. we've used some dish washing detergent up to his neckline (maybe up between the ears) and let it sit for a few minutes all sudded up. It should take care of the majority of them. Can get any others with a flea comb. He won't like the bath, but will appreciate a warm towel and snuggle afterwards.

We've checked him over from head to toe and have yet to find a flea or tick - so far. Checked his ears and turned him on his back and rubbed his fur against the grain - no sign of bugs. We'll have the vet take a closer look. Good advice on the flea products - thanks

Both cats we've had were foundlings and turned out to be great cats.

Found a black one once in a dumpster at a campground. We didn't notice any ticks on him till we took him to the vet and they found a bunch inside his ears. He was so small I could put him in the pocket of my jacket.

Exactly why we scheduled an appointment on line first thing Sunday morning. Deer ticks are small and my old eyes could easily miss them. Wednesday was the first available appointment. We will check again and keep checking...

Especially for a cat. :D
This is what happens when you are sitting for two dogs and haven't been around any dogs for a while. All I can think about is dogs at the moment because the two little dogs that are spending time with us never let us forget for even a minute that they are here. We do enjoy having them but they seem to never have enough attention.

I suppose I should say "Good looking cat!" not that it would make a difference in how people must think I am a complete idiot. Oh well, tis better to prove yourself a complete idiot than just be thought of as one.

Where's my sign?

They are gentle dogs. And smart.
Actuall Mike, I thought you were referencing back to Dave's post. He was referring to my border collie, but in context it could have been thought he was having a little fun with the cat picture. So, I thought you were playing off that.

So, where's my sign?

Rennie, thanks for trying to bail me out but I are what I am.....:giggle:

IDK I was just rolling with it, LOML's dad had a cat for years . He was not however a cat person and refused to admit he actually liked the cat so ... he named the cat "dog".

I'm going to name my next dog "Five Miles" so I can say "Welp gotta go walk Five Miles real quick".
There used to be a bar here named "The Office". We also used to have "The Library".

"Don't save dinner for me dear...I'm staying late again at the office."
