Yep, garret wade still sells a crappy knock off. They're called "Perfect Handle Screwdrivers". They were very popular with tank crews in WW II as they're super sturdy.

Yours is interesting because you can still see the casting marks on it so I'm guessing it was probably war production when no details were wasted on niceties.

Very cool find! I think I might have a similar one rattling around here somewhere that was my granddad's. I'll have to do some digging around to see if I still have it.
 
That screwdriver looks like it has pried off its share of paint can lids.

I have several screwdrivers that were my grandfather's that look very similar. His are in good shape. He was a machinist and he kept his tool meticulous. He wiped them down with a rag after each use.
