This is the last piece of Pink Tasmanian myrtle in my stash. It is supposedly Pink Tasmanian Myrtle burl but I don't see any burly figure in this piece..
Over the years I must have turned at least 25 pieces of this wonderful fine grained wood. The color is so wonderful and when finished it feels like silk in your hands.
3 1/2" tall and 3" in diameter this box I call a dome-lidded box for obvious reasons. You have to be careful sanding the end grain of this material as it will heat check if you aren't careful. I sand it with wax as a lubricant.
