Queen Anne Redo

The one remaining historical feature in our 1890's home is this cool little Queen Anne window. My initial plan was to pull the window out, clean everything up then re-glaze, repaint and reinstall. Upon further inspection I see that a lot of the wood, especially in the muntins, is pretty well worn and rotted so I've decided the best thing to do is salvage the glass and build a new sash. I ordered a rail and stile cutter from Rockler and should have that in hand in the next few days. If all goes according to plan I should be able to get this thing started maybe this weekend.

One step closer, the bit was delivered.

I guess the next step is to build a sled to hold the rails for the end coping cuts. I’ve spent a little time researching those, I think I have a good idea on what I want for my purpose. If anyone has made one of these feel free to share, I’m open to any advice.

Got this part finished. I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet but I think it will do the trick. I pretty much copied Rockler’s design and made it out of stuff I had laying around. The base is an ACM siding sample, roughly 7” x 11”, the handles are from old tools that I don’t have anymore.

I’ll post more after I’ve had a chance to test it out.
