question for the collective - Alexa Echo 5 is here

If I want to talk I just say Hey Google and she pops up. Spent an evening couple weeks ago finding out the genealogy for each of my grandparents. It took a while to learn the correct questions to ask as I was navigating the rabbit holes. My phone keeps asking me if I want to add devices to it around the house. It get confusing for me for what I need to do. So I keep everything manual except the TV remote.
All I want is a good book club to join, if anyone has a suggestion, please.

I’ve never been able to either study or work with background music. When I was at college, some of my mates said that they couldn’t study without music and I said the opposite, I guess it works differently for each one of us.

My wife gives me a hard time about my playlists being the same few hundred songs I've listened to over and over again. I've found with my adhd they are mostly white noise drowning out the screaming monkeys in my mind, which allows me to focus. If I listen to a list of songs that are new, I actually find it hard to concentrate.

Is there something wrong with someone that has over 750 songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's in his shop playlist and can sing along with at least the chorus, if not several verses, of every one of them from memory, but is unable to remember where he put down his tape measure 5 minutes ago?:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Had a chuckle, with this. So true.

One of my coworkers prefers listening to French pop music for similar reasons. He doesn’t speak French so it’s just white noise. He said that for him songs he knew he had to like engage with. Funny how different things work for the same issues for different folks.

Maybe a left/right brain thing? I'm usually trying to focus on non-creative when listening but not really listening, to focus on the mundane troubleshooting/testing stuff...lol

Maybe a left/right brain thing?

I think in both cases it's that it's ignorable background noise.. but what our brain perceives as ignorable can be different. It's sort of interesting because you both have *very* similar hobbies and interests (it's not *quite* a 1:1 checklist.. but close..) and in large part I think similar ways of thinking about a lot of of things from what I've seen.

I like to put on headphones and listen to podcasts when I'm doing things around the ranch. Not sure why, not like I really think I'm paying attention to it? Just kind of background noise.
