Restore Hand Plane Find

I picked this little guy up at the restore on Saturday. It looked like a nice plane, but after I got home I realized that the frog and cap are both stamped sheet metal. I didn't see any identifying manufacturers marks, must not have wanted to be associated with it. :)

I did only pay $1.50 for it, but figured I could make it usable. ;)

At the very worst, you could turn it into a Christmas decoration. :)

Aside from the Clawhammer of Doom[SUP]TM [/SUP]with which she metes out punishment to scorpions, this plane is the only other handtool LOML owns. :D
 
I would take it apart and drop it into some Evapo-rust for a day or so, then take it out and rinse it, then dip it back in the Evapo-rust and let it dry. That should take care of most of the rust (it's amazing stuff) and hone the blade. Should be good for light planing jobs.
