I'm building a new island for my kitchen. I'm going to use a live edge slab to make an epoxy river top for it. I need to flatten the surface of the slab, so I built this router sled. I mounted my 3-1/2 HP plunge router to she sled. Now I can accurately flatten the slab. Using the pictures...

Fantastic piece of work! Back in the day when I surfaced highly figured panels for box lids I used a Woodhaven router sled attachment. It worked great but not as smoothly as yours and the size of the piece of wood was limited to about 10" wide.

I completely redesigned the rail system for the router sled that I built. It now works MUCH better and more smoothly than the original design. I'm now using two 8' 1" 11 gauge steel tubing for the rails It is SMOOOOOTH!

add some rack and pinion and some steppers and you can have a CNC.... looks good BTW
