Scarf Joint Demo

Cool joint, not sure I've ever seen it done in house construction around here, mostly for timber frames, but only for light duty supports where they didn't want to do a lap or butt joint over a vertical support/wall.

Scarf joint were used very commonly in wooden boat building. I had a book around here on building boat and they spent a lot of time on making this joint. That said the scarf joints used in boats didn't involve the the use of the wedges. They scarf joint were used to get log boards for the sheathing of the hull.
