i thought that i would give this a try. first i scorched the pine blank with a torch, then sanded lightly with 220. then i have given it a coat of boiled linseed oil. once i get done with the gears, i will carve the sign and see how it goes. once done, it gets a quick coat of shellac.

finished this test today, after the last gear was done. set up the text and font, and the gcode. after carving the text, gave it a good coat of shellac.

That added some nice contrast to it Dan, love the quote. :thumb: That and the one that goes 'My wife just stopped and said, "You weren't even listening, were you?" I thought, "That's a pretty weird way to start a conversation."'
