Scored some wood!

Got a call from my son-in-law yesterday asking me if I would be interested in some soft maple. A friend of his has (had!) some he had milled from a tree in his front yard that road crews took down 15ish years ago. Went and picked it up this morning. Turns out to be around 200+ bf, 8’ x 9-13” x 2” thick, milled over 10 years ago and layed stickered in his garage since then. Best part is he wouldn’t take anything for it, FREE! About 1/4 - 1/2 is spalted! Good day today

My son in law came back today and helped carry it down stairs to the wood room, these boards are HEAVY, 14 total trips, 1 board at a time, we each took an end, one of the major problems with a basement shop, I’m tired

There is a neet trick I've done with soft maple. Cut it very thin, soak it in a wood hardner and then put it up to the light. It takes on an Alsbaster look.
