Stewart-MacDonald (StewMac) makes and sells a wide variety of guitar-making tools and materials. They just re-introduced Sharkskin Abrasive and it looks like some handy stuff. I thought it might be of interest to some of you folks here.


 
Interesting post...in the olden days fine craftsmen of violins and other such instruments (luthiers) used actual sharkskin as sandpaper to polish the wood and finish. Having spent quite a few hours fishing for sharks I can say that, dependent on the size and species, actual sharkskin can be quite abrasive. I have never tried removing and conditioning the skin for actual use. I can't imagine how expensive such a process would be.
