Glad the information proved useful Jay, thanks for the likes and comments folks, the segmented assembly and other component rounds have been awaiting further attention for some 10 months, it was about time they were married together and put out of their dust accumulating misery.

Now know why I’d left this particular slab of Purple Heart sitting in the store for many years, thought dense nature and hardness would be ideal, forgot the brittleness and micro cracks it harboured in inconvenient places to provided unwelcome challenges as the form developed.

Getting far too complacent after so many easy passages using Cherry, Yew and Walnut.
