Smashburger attempt

I decided to fire up the griddle on the RV tonight and give smash burgers a try. I started with balls of hamburger, about 2" - 2 1/2" in diameter, four of them. I smashed/smeared each a bit down to about 3/16" thick.

My griddle has only one burner right in the middle, so the 4 burgers were in the middle, buns off to the sides. I was surprised just how fast they cooked, it was set at medium high heat on the dial. I'm going to have to play with that a bit and maybe get the IR temp gun out to see what temps I'm actually getting.

My griddle top is also cast iron, not steel like the black stones, so it's a bit rougher finish and things tend to stick a bit yet in places. I've done a seasoning, but only the center area has gotten much blackening so far.

Anyway, just a couple of minutes and burgers were done and Velveeta added, two patties per burger.

SWMBO was pretty happy with it and wants them more often. I didn't have much time to grill onions, will give them a try next time.
