Does anywone else here use 3D programs like SolidWorks or Inventor? I use SolidWorks to do all my planning. It has a nice rendering engine built in that allows you to get a better look at it once the design is complete.

Hi, i'm new here. The word "Solidworks" caught my attention. I also use solidworks for all i do. It's a great program. I happen to be in a company that has on of the worlds top beta testers for this program so i have no problem getting things done! ;) But yes, for an starter, this is a complicated program. Once mastered, it's extreemly addictive but most of all it's very useful. Thanks for allowing me to release.

Rob, would you post a perspective view of that model?

I did some looking. It's hard to find a price but I found an archive of a CAD forum thread from 2004. at that time Solidworks was going for $4495/seat plus $1295/year to keep it up to date. If the current price for SW is anywhere in that neighborhood, I'd definitely be hard pressed to consider it for my woodworking projects.
