Something for the 9 and 10 year old kids sun catchers

My daughter is back full time in classroom teaching again
Missed the kids Xmas projects due to pandemic
I was thinking what could I make the kids this year in her class for a spring summer project
This is a special Ed class and I have to try to keep it easy and fun as some kids really have poor motor skills or other problems
I came up with simple idea
Use all the extra basswood I had leftover from motorcycle and all the left over pieces of lucite I've ascumulated over the years
Simple maybe not even considered good enough to post here but it's keeping me busy
Made a small jig to glue up and pin them
Only cut enough for 4 miscut 2 and had to toss
The others were samples
I purchased little plastic jewels that self stick so the kids can make any design they want
Again simple but I think it will be a winner with the kids

I need 12 but will make an additional 15 or so just in case she gets more kids in class when they do this

made those 6 in around 2.5 hours

The kids finally got to it
My daughter made it a teaching arts and crafts class
All the kids loved it
Some pics and of course I'm squeezing in a pic of me giving Kaden a first taste of a sugar cookie

Yeah the masks bother me no child that age especially with disabilities should have to wear one
I won't post pics of the kids faces sorry
I was surprised every kid and some teachers participated
Each kid in her class has a one on one teacher aide also
Gotta come up with Xmas projects for next class
I'm thinking Xmas trees and snowmen on stands since I've done the bandsaw reindeer many years in a row

This is the same
School that my daughter went to at 4 years old and she had a speech impediment and was pulled out a few days a
Week to work with therpiast
So now that she is a special Ed teacher I guess it's a nice feather in their cap
My son worked there a couple of summers as a summer custodian
The head custodian had him tag along on every electrical and plumbing job and it was an incredibly valuable time for my son since I know nothing about electricity or plumbing
Oh and my wife retired from the same school after 20 years
They would not let me in Halloween this past covid year but I hope this year I'm allowed in
I miss hanging out with the students
