isn't it just like me, to start the cutting of the parts for the 6 easy wine bottle holders. just to be on the safe side, it is also the hottest day of this september here in minnesota. when i was getting things out for the cutting, the thermometer on the wall (that's the big round thing, with the numbers) said it was a nice comfy 80 degrees. checked with the local weather, they said it was 85, but, with the humidity, it feels like 94. when i was done, the thermometer in the garage said 90. needless to say, but my eagerness got the better of my sanity, and i started the cutting of the 4, 1/6's of red oak. i had cutlist set it up to prefer cross cuts in the print out. i tell you, i was cutting like i hadn't been in the shop in months. towards the end, that warm weather was catching up with me. a little overheated, but still sweating, and downing bottles of water like it was going out of style. but, got everything cut, and ready for quick set ups. now at home, and after a nice (and much needed :blah:) shower, i am going to call it a day, and get some needed sleep. (i would be willing to bet that you all think that i miss writing my newsletter....)

got set up again, and comenced to cutting. made the 3 sleds for the cutting of the 3/8 inch corners, the 1/2 inch half laps, and the 3/4 inch half laps. got all of the corner stuff cut. then, set up everything, to double check as to how i want to do the half laps, and get a good idea of how the front/back assemblies will look like. tomorrow, i cut the half laps.

finished the majority of the 5th 4 bottle holder, when my spindle sander brewed up. smoke and everything. started working on the cnc stuff, and got a bunch of the side tops of the second wine bottle holders done, and the glass fits the inset just fine. only bad thing is, because of the financial situation, cannot replace the spindle sander right away.

amazing what you can get done, while being unemployed. got the last of the 4 bottle wine bottle set up for finishing. marking off where not to stain. then on to finishing up the insets for the wine bottle and glass holders. then doing a test set up of the whole thing. then on to cutting the holes for the bottle in the tops. then a test set up with the wine bottle. i found that an old beer can was just the right height to set up the 3 slats for the bottle to sit on, and then did a set up with just the bottle. i brought home a full set of parts to do a complete set up with bottle, and glasses. turns out i needed something to hold up the sides, as they became unstable with the glasses in place. tomorrow, it is on to the bourbon bottle and various glass insets.

worked on the tops of the bourbon bottle holders. did a test set up of the holder, without, and with bottle and glasses. got a couple of pics of the bottle and shot glasses in thier insets in the top. finished cutting the waste from the holes in the wine bottle holders, and will make them a touch larger at my cousin's shop on monday, as my spindle sander is out of action.
