working on an idea for a co-worker, he wants a wooden crosscribb board. in order to save money, went with glued up aspen blanks. he wants it to be close to the color in the picture. never worked with aspen before. tried light, medium, and dark watco danish oils, but, splotchy, and looks like junk in the tests. may wind up going to a slightly darker wood, but that means i would be doing the glue ups, and the shop is not ready to be opened. any ideas?
