This was a funny thread to read. I laughed a lot.

But, back on a more serious note .... I remember reading years ago, that the speeds of non-powered objects in orbit do decay, causing the orbit radius to decrease. I have often wondered (just to myself in case people think I am really crazy) if we are indeed a bit closer to the sun than we used to be, but the scientists who know this won't say publicly so as to avoid panic. Most people probably wouldn't understand that it's a million or billion or ?? year window for full decay and crash?

How many miles does our solar orbit radius have to decrease to pick up one degree of average planet temperature ?
