It's been a long day, and I'm exhausted. Yesterday, after finding a water leak on the basement floor, it was time for emergency repairs. It looked like it came from the bathroom plumbing, the "wet wall" between the upstairs bathrooms and the dining room. There were drips on the pipes directly above the spot on the floor. The entire dining room had wainscoting on the walls so that it would take a lot of work. I had planned on removing the wainscoting and redoing the dining room anyway, but not right now. I couldn't find the leak last night; it appeared to have stopped. I got busy this morning with the demo. Guess what, I can't find any sign of a leak anywhere in the wall! I am still determining where the water came from! It is a total mystery to me. The shower on that wall is a Kerdi system that I installed, and we have only been using it for about a year. There is no sign of a leak anywhere there, either. Once I figure out the water source, I will replace the drywall, and then fabricate new and much nicer shaker-style wainscoting to match the cabinets I built in the kitchen three years ago. It's time to relax and watch the Lions beat the Seahags.
