Santa actually was able to find my house and gifted me with three hand tools. They were a 12" cabinetmaker's rasp, a scratch awl and a birdcage awl. All welcomed additions. The rasp is a 6 grain rasp which will remove a lot of wood in a hurry.

When I made my tool holder for my other rasps, I had left a space for this rasp. I will have to open up the hole for it so that it can seat more securely. I had to make a whole new holder for the awls. I now just have to determine where I want to place it on the tool wall.

And no electrical current was used in the making of holder for the awls except for lighting.

Nice! What's the difference/advantage to using a birdcage awl vs. a scratch awl?
Scratch awl for scribing/marking a line, while the birdcage makes a nice point impression for starting a drill bit and screws. At least that is how I use them. In fact I used the birdcage awl to do just that in drilling out the holes in the holder for the awls.
