There are some species of wood of which one might be curious as to where the name came from. Yellowheart is not one of those species.
I was experimenting when I turned this one. I wanted fairly thin walls but a wide rim. I wasn't sure I liked it at first--it still isn't a favorite, but hopefully someone will grab it at my show next weekend.
Finishing this one was easy compared to some. Three coats of Danish Oil and a Beall buff was all it took to get a good shine.
Yellowheart has a chatoyance to it that is hard to capture with a camera. These pictures show just a hint of it. 6" x 2".
