Things like this does not happen to me. Long story short, Larry told me about an estate sale about a month ago that had some wood and sent me there. Closed by the time I had the chance to get there (the normal for me. a day late and a dollar short). Finally they opened it up again and here is what I got on the 1st trip

2nd trip

here's the 2nd trip and pics of the entire stash. It includes 150 bf cherry. 500bf red oak (lots of quarter sawn) and about 20 bf western red cedar, plus 1 mistery board (the one my son is holding). best part is it was sold on the average of 93 cents YES less than 1.00 per board foot for all :D
This just does not happen to me. now I need to create more wood storage in the shop. Will post when done

Thanks Tom

Yea Dad this was a Find I think that I should go back an pickup the ASH stash that is about 200bf for less than that $1.00bf:D when I find out what that is I will let ya know:thumb:

WOW!

Tom,

What a haul and great deal! :thumb: Always nice to be in the right place at the right time. Look forward to seeing some of that wood magically transform into beautiful pieces. ;)

Regards,

Mea Culpa!

Larry,

Absolutely. I think that comes well before my descriptives. Do you have any hidden treasures down my way, too??

There was a LOT of qtr sawn white oak also but a local cabnet maker beat me to that, but believe me or not I really wanted the red oak. That is what I am using to make my Kitchen and eventually will go thru the entire house as trim, etc.
Chuck, yer a little far away to police my wood stash, but come on over and arrest me, but I will bribe my way out with, well maybe an adult beverage ?

Yeah, that's a great haul...worthy of building new lumber storage for. Congrats. :thumb:

My first though on the mystery board was also bloodwood. ;)

Well gentlemen the "Mystery Board" has come to a verdict........I have analyzed the board at the Shop today and came up with......... African Padauk. The board is 1.5" thick, 10" wide, and 8'4" in length:D..So I think that I Did good at only $25.00 for the board:D:thumb::p The going price is at about $10.50/ bdft Here is a Link to the wood http://www.exotichardwoods-africa.com/paduakafrican.htm http://www.westwindhardwood.com/images/hardwoods/small_hard_pad.html
Thank you Guys for all the input thanks again
JIM

Padauk was my second guess. It's nice stuff, and it finishes well. The dust turns everything in your shop orange, but it's worth it. ;) And yeppers, you stole it for $25. I think I've paid about $12.00 per board foot in the past. You paid about $2.40. :thumb:

One more trip!

Had to go back one more time and thats it. Really do not know exactly how and where it going. Have a small room (8 x 13) that is used for storage that is attatched to my shop. I think that will be the new wood shed. Anyway, My son picked up 250 bf ash and I got another 100 bf red oak that is mosty qtr sawn. so a total of just shy of 1000 bf of lumber :D. Now the LOML is really ready for me to get busy :p.

Thanks Tom
