Motor types

If you are referring to the Router speed controllers then the answer is no.

They are meant for universal motor types like routers, not for induction motors on lathes. The way I learned the difference is if the motor has replaceable brushes it is a universal type and if it has the lump on the side (capacitor) then it is an induction motor. This is a very basic description and I am not an electrician or expert on the subject so anyone feel free to correct me here.

This is one of those questions that pops up now and then when we turners want to add variable speed to our lathes. Wouldn't it be nice if it was so easy and cheap?

Ooops-looks like Bernie beat me to it. I had my response all typed and then work got in the way before I could submit it. At least we agree!
