A friend gave me some slabs of Redbud (in the pickup) and I got some Elm and Hackberry (in the trailer) from some standing dead trees that my third grade teacher needed taken down. It was a good day wood-wise. :)

Jon,

You'd be surprised how many third graders in East Texas are already shaving. :D

It saves having to red-shirt them once they reach junior high. ;)

Dear Cody,

As a former English professor at a well known Texas university (one of whose members won the Heisman while I was there), I'd like to thank you for making this joke before I had the chance...

BTW, that's a pretty nice haul. I should get back to turning someday... ;)

Thnaks,

Bill

Cody,
Some of that wood has splits I can't see them but I feel their there. So to keep you safe send all of it to me cause I wouldn't want you to get hurt I'm just thinking of your safety.:D

Bill, I thought you would appreciate that. :D

Lee, I'm working on it but have to go back offshore Tuesday so...

Chuck, you are more right than you think. I was working on a large (11") Redbud bowl yesterday and it had a crack in the bottom...end-grain orientaion. I was going to make a couple more passes to thin down the bottom and the thing exploded on me. About an hour's work lay in fragments all over the shop. Bummer. :(
