Know anything about Camellia Wood?

My friend, who lives in Tacoma Washington, told me that they cut down a small camellia tree in his yard. He offered to save some of the bigger pieces for me. He didn't send any pictures of what he has, so I asked that he send some for me to get an idea of how much wood he has.

I have never hear of Camellia wood before this. I'm having a hard time finding anything online about it, other than it is hard, and used in knife handles in Japan/Asia.

Does any one know anything about it or have worked with it before?
Would it be good for turning or flat work, or is it best left to the fire pit? Anything special about the grain pattern?

Thanks for any info!
