These were fun! ;) The salt box is English walnut and has rare earth mag's in top and lip to snap together with a .125 x 1" spring pin as the hinge. About 4.5x3, enough to get your hand in there and get a good pinch. Finished in Beeswax and nothing inside. Lidded box is ebay American elm, about 5x2, no finish yet and inside isn't done, but I was real happy to get this one right from the start. Comments and suggestions please!!

Opps...Emperor now has clothes

Thanks Jon

Okay, I had to look it up. It's for holding Kosher Salt (generally). And this was an old way of keeping salt. I've only really know the salt shaker and Mortons blue box of salt. Please forgive me.

Nice Salt Box Jim!

Still working on mine, having to do a glue up of some maple chunks I had leftover from some cutting boards...

Oh, If you've ever watched Alton Browns 'Good Eats' on Food TV, you've seen him use what he calls a 'Salt Cellar'. Basically a small covered dish used to hold coarse granular salt.....
