After using a panel and having extreme diffiuculty a year ago to attempt to get a straight edge on a board, I searched the internet, and through Rigid forums as I mentioned, I found a link to Tod Evans' simple jig for ripping straight edges on long boards.

So I built the jig in 20 minutes, making sure everything was square, and ran my first piece of mahogany through it.

This is perhaps childs play for you pros, but not for me.

Id like to thank Tod for sharing things like this.
Its worth mentioning, cause it makes a tough task simple.

Well while we are at it, I will say, Tod did me a favor too, sending me a metal ball I needed for my weathervane. Again simple perhaps, but he paid the shipping and with a shrug said "Pay if forward". Somewhere along the way I must have, but as an update, this was a 1½ years ago and that weathervane still swings in the wind with the littlest breeze thanks to the simple ball bearing that Tod gave me. I think of his generosity every time I look up and see which way the wind is blowing.

Kind of ironic...simplicity never seems to fail whether you are talking about weathervanes or kindness.
