Marty or Vaughn...

When I used to go to familywoodworking.org, the web site would automatically take me to "http://familywoodworking.org/public_html/forums/index.php"

Now, if I go to familywoodworking.org, I get taken to "http://familywoodworking.org/forums/index.php"

The problem is for anyone who has bookmarked the old location. If I now try to go to http://familywoodworking.org/public_html/forums/index.php I get a 404 error.

So there might be some people out there trying to look up FW and still think you're out of commission.

What about putting a redirect into your apache server's config file so that "http://familywoodworking.org/public_html/forums/index.php" gets redirected to the new URL.

It's not a huge deal, but I thought it might help out some people.

Art,

I thought about this last night and setup the redirect at the control panel level...it should be working for you, since it is for me.

You sure it doesn't work?

Yup, very sure.

tried it out just now, same 404 error.

I did a dns lookup on www.familywoodworking.org and I get 70.103.189.65

(but if I go to that IP, I get a generic bluehost error, telling me that there is no website at that address, which does not make sense, since if I go to www.familywoodworking.org it goes to the right place)

Art,

It works fine for me after removing it and putting it back. Give it another shot.

The IP addr you're looking at is the IP for the SHARED server. We live in a sub directory on that machine.

Marty, all is good now.

Did you maybe forget to restart the Apache Daemon the first time? I've done that countless times with many programs... tweak the config file but forget to give the server a kick.

thanks for the work.

My original bookmark works fine. Haven't had to change anything:thumb:
