Teak wood finish ?

i have some teak that i made some bowls out of (pic below) but the grain is very pourus or open looking......put Danish oil on...one coat....thinking of putting multiple coats of varnish/danish/turp (mixture) by hand on to build coats up......
One person suggested multiple coats up to 3-4 of the mix and then lightly sand with 3m or 0000 steel wool and put a coat of triwax and buff by hand..............
Anybody got suggestions on the best way to finsih teak ?
the wood is fairly dry and not oily at all..........thanks Dan
