visiting the Lancaster PA amish area in august of 2006 and not wanting to pay 149 dollars for an adirondack chair is why I started woodworking.
(I spent all my extra money on shoofly pie instead)
That's probably why most folks start... and most of us probably went through a phase where we'd build everything instead of buying it. It's been a long time since I made any adirondak chairs... maybe 15 years... but I think I remember my cost for a poplar chair was something around $35. I made several of them, and the only way I got faster on subsequent ones was because I already had the templates made. I think I'd pay $149 for one today before I did it myself.

And next time we're at Cracker Barrell, a couple of those rockers are coming home with us to the porch. :thumb:
