Seeking more planer input

Steel City is phasing out the 40200 13"planer (3 knife cutter head) and introducing the 40200H, which has a helical cutter. The new model retails for $599 (about the top of the budget), but I understand there are some of the older versions still available for under $450. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the cutter head. My impulse is to go for the less expensive unit, but I thought I'd seek advice from any of you who'd care to offer. Thanks

Check the price on a 13" spiral head to get a feel for that new to old price difference. I love the spiral on my jointer and wish I had it in my planer.
