This is some wood I got from the neighbors down the street, who were doing a major trimming of their jacaranda tree. I got several chunks of this stuff, and this is the bowl I made to give them in return for the wood. Jacaranda is pretty soft and light, is very stable and fast drying. It's a bit tricky to get nice clean cuts with it, but when the gouge can't do it, the sands easily and quickly.
The finished bowl is about 10" long and 6" wide. Finished with Antique Oil and buffed. Many of the pieces from this tree have a slight bit of curl, but otherwise it's pretty plain wood.
The neighbors loved it, BTW, They had not seen any of my work before, and I don't think they were expecting anything quite like this when I promised them a bowl a few months ago.
