The important thing to remember when placing the air cleaner is to place it where it pulls the dust being generated "AWAY" from you so that it does not pass by your nose on its way to the filter IF you're "primary mission" is to protect your lungs instead of just being a whole shop air cleaner to filter out things that a DC system didn't collect at the source.

In that second case of using a DC + an Air cleaner, (or two), then you would mount the air cleaner from the ceiling where its intake and outflow are parallel to, and about the middle of, a LONG wall so it creates a circular flow around the room. Mounted from the ceiling in the MIDDLE of the room in that "second scenario would not be very effective at all.

Ahhhhhhhh, yes, most of your answer Norman makes sense. Build it and use it like Jeff, once my DC is in place then I can hang it. Where I hang it, will talk to you about that then!
