Turning 'hack' at work...

Since I haven't moved the whole shop over yet (next weekend :D), I've made time to piddle with my stash of mesquite cutoffs. Take it easy on me... I'm self taught, and had a poor teacher. :(

Comments on form and what not are welcome. Not necessary to comment on my photography skills, or my use of the cooktop as the setting.

I seem to have a couple basic shapes that I'm 'comfortable' with, and I struggle if I try to stray too far.

Little bowl, 5-1/4 by 1-1/2 deep.

Bigger, 7 x 2-1/2 deep. Probably the prettiest chunk of mesquite I've ever turned... there's a lot going on there that my amateur pictures don't show well.

Next two are 7-1/4 by 1-1/2... same basic shape, but one has beading detail at the top, the other at the bottom.

Your photo skills held up Kirk. The first one is amazing, just wish it was bigger...the more mesquite, the better. The shallow bowl is great too. I vote for #1

The second one gets my vote, both for the curly wood and the nice form, including the bead. :thumb:

Keep this up and you'll need to drop the "hack" designation. ;)
