Soeone spotted some of my work and asked me to make a mortar & pestle for them. Needless to sy I had to leave a bit of rustic look about it.

6" dia & same depth. Lots of weight in it. Finished by sanding reaslly smooth down to 1200 & veg oiling

Great-looking set, Pete. :thumb: I'm considering making one or two to have for sale in my show booth next weekend, just to see how they sell.

I don't know what it's like in the States but over here the ones that you buy in the shops are flimsy small things made out of cheap rubber wood or marble. I find that big hefty chunky ones like this are quite popular especially of they have a solid feel about them and a pestle you can really manhandle. WEith the choices of wood you guys have I am sure that you could make some really distinctive looking ones.
