Picture 1 - first mounted burl type pc of wood that had alot of punky areas and bark all over it......shield on and started turning with bark and wood chips flying all over .....it was dried out for sure.....
Picture 2 Hollowed out and things going fairly well
Picture 3 - Reversed and touched up with sharp gouge and scraper but the wood had so many voids and bad spots it was hard to get a nice finish cut so i broke out the 60grit and started a sanding protocol....decide to touch up a bump the center of the hollow part.
Picture 4 - parted it off and a hole opened up dead center - black stone inlay and sanded and analine dye put on as the wood looked horrible with just a semi gloss finish.....
Picture 5 and 6 show the finish of the wood before buffing.......glad i could have saved it and the color now is much darker with a few coats of semi gloss Laquer on it....the spotted area is not very noticable at all in the end............
