deep, long and narrow mortises

Hey, ya Done GOOD, Larry.:thumb::thumb::thumb: I had confidence in ya though and KNEW you'd figger it out. 'N just think, ya done all that without even making ONE cut on tha Wrong side of tha board too.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
 
I'm thinking i'd clamp a drill to a flat board, add some thickness to the board so that the drill is centered on the stock when the board slides on the side of the stock, chuck up a brad point bit, tape it at the correct depth, and drill out the waste. Then i'd clean it up with a hand chisel. Should be a simple enough jig, and the brad point bit will allow you to go deeper than an upcut spriral router bit.
You're only doing 4 of them - i'd think this would work just fine with minimal brain sparks. I like to keep it simple.
