 How is this scraper sharpened. Up till now, I have used a diamond offset mini hones to sharpen the top of the scraper. Looking at the round scraper that the Multi tool hollower from Sorby comes with , the sides are sharpened to a slight angle. Should'nt the Tear drop be sharpened with a slight angle also?

John, I don't have the Sorby scraper, but the scraper bits with my Monster system are similar. I sharpen them just like a regular handled scraper.

These pics show a tool bit being sharpened, but I use the same grinder setup (and the same angle) for my scrapers...both handled and just the bits:

Hi John,

I have the Sorby tear-drop scraper and I sharpen it the way Vaughn does on a platform and just turn it with my fingers (gloves on). I sharpen my scraper at 80 degrees and it works fine. The only advice I would offer is to grind lightly and keep the piece moving so that you don't end up with a flat spot.
