Log Cuttting ideas?

Thought i would see how others may cut these logs to make blanks other than straight down the middle thru the pith (where there is some cracking)

Picture -1 is about 2' Tall and 17-23 inches in diameter - Picture 2 &3 approx same demensions.........thanks Dan

Hi Dan,

One of the best handouts I ever received at a demo was from noted turner Todd Hoyer. It had a listing of all the ways to cut a blank for different results. I still use it to this day.

I did a little google search and found it on the OVWG site in a pdf format. I think this will give you a ton of options.

Here is a proposed cut line for picture 3. The part behind the cut line could yield a large natural edge bowl with what I believe would be an interesting shape of rim.

Hi Guys,
