Floor installs?

OK I have installed a few hardwood flors and alway start at one end of the room. Snap a line and try to stay straigth. There are others who seem to start in the middle of the room and go outwards from there. Any reason for this? If you have installed wood flooring which way do you do it and why. Just trying to gain as much info as this brain will hold.
