Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge... in such away that does not seem like "I know it all" --

This is my goto wood forum -- fun and educational at the same time.

I am getting kind of gooey but thanks for letting me be part of this.

I am more of a lurker than poster....

The flood pushed over several trees - one being a large hackberry..
They are just off the road but still on the counties right of way.

Asked the owner adjacent to the road and they said go get them..

Guess what I will be doing tomorrow...
 
Sounds like some good wood you are going to get, lucky you!

As always, be careful playing with the chainsaw, and take some pics, we all love to see pics of nice wood hauls! :thumb:
 
That's a GLOAT, Paul!!!

A couple things.

1. If you can get some of it to spault, you Will like it.

2. Look at how you cut it. If quartersawn, it will look like fabric. The rays and the grain form a crosshatch.
