Made these two over the weekend, using cut-offs from other projects.

Curly Maple and walnut. Maple is finished in shellac, and the walnut is oiled.

They both look very nice, although the walnut version really stands out to me. I really like the curve.

The walnut is actually a cutoff from a trestle table base I'm working on The trestles will be 4 X 5 walnut, and this curvy piece is where I cut the 'swoop' into the base to keep it from looking too blocky. I have seven more of them - maybe it's craft show time...

Yeah, all those 'blisters' or lumps and bumps weren't visible until I pulled the bark off, but when I saw them, I just knew I had to do something with them.

The piece was actually part of a slab-off when the sawmill was squaring up the log for lumber cuts.
