All of about 30 seconds after I put in the splines. Oh well, it really looked nice, bloodwood head and a hickory handle.

I think I'll actually let the glue dry over night next time, lesson learned. Good thing I hadnt glued the leather on the face.

Dang! Hate it when that happens.

Any chance of salvaging it? Maybe slicing along the split and re-gluing?

looks like it was a glue line that let loose so it should be repairable the splines may be a problem though..

Run some hardwood dowels of a contrasting color through it. Put in a pattern, like your initials, and they will be both decorative and save yer bonker.
